Gobabeb Research & Training Centre

Applications for the 8th Annual YES are now open!

Gobabeb Research & Training Centre happily announces that we are starting preparations for the 8th annual Youth Environmental Summit (YES)! In conjunction with the UN’s International Biodiversity Day, the theme this year will be Biodiversity and Sustainable Tourism for Development.

The summit will be held on-site at Gobabeb in the Namib-Naukluft National Park during the week of 12-21 May 2017.

We are calling for grade 11 learners interested in the environment from the Erongo, Khomas, and Hardap regions to apply. During the YES, 30 grade 11 learners will work together in teams to answer three unique questions through hands-on research mentored by Gobabeb staff. As usual YES promises to be an unforgettable experience! Interested learners can contact training staff at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. A large thanks to support from our partners at the Ministry of Environment and Tourism (MET) and the Embassy of Finland’s Fund for Local Cooperation Initiative who help make this event possible.
