The FLC Benefit-Sharing in the Namib Sand Sea Project held its first training for the needlework sewing circle, training nine women from the Topnaar community in traditional lappiesgoed textile techniques. The women will participate in a 12 week programme, from September - December 2016,
where they will be trained to craft, market, and manage the sales of products made with the support of the FLC project.
During the week's training, the programme's participants were visited by the Finnish Ambassador and FLC project coordinating staff from Embassy of Finland in Windhoek - Suomen suurlähetystö Windhoekissa. The FLC team from the Embassy took a tour of the work already being produced by the women, speaking with the women about their interest in the project and their goals moving forward.
Gobabeb and FLC project participants alike look forward to sustained progress in the needlework circles, and remain grateful for the support received from the Finnish Embassy and the FLC project. Stay tuned for more updates about the needlework circle's progress, and their products!
